 Record Name Willances Leap. Large leafed lime (Tilia platyphyllos)
 Record Description Large leafed lime (T. platyphyllos) at extreme northern limit of its range in Britain. This isolated tree is a very large self or wind coppiced tree growing at the top edge of a sheer cliff. Access is V. Dangerous except when roped. Inaccessible, do not attempt to climb down to this tree!

 Additional Notes This tree, the first of this species to be recorded during the current survey, measures 8.5m across the base of the rootstock assuming that the visible gap has been caused by a section of the rootstock falling off the cliff. The significant population of T. platyphyllos in Lower Swaledale is currently being surveyed.
